01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Cut into one of the multi-layered loaves from Grand Marble, and a vivid swirling pattern emerges across the crumb. Located in Kamitoba in Kyoto's Minami Ward, this direct-sales shop sits immediately adjacent to the company's production facility. While boxed Danish loaves are widely sought after for wedding favors and formal gifts, visiting this dedicated shop brings a rare perk: when timing aligns, freshly baked loaves arrive straight from the ovens next door. Tearing into a still-warm crumb that releases a buttery sweetness makes the factory-side trip worthwhile.
The display cases hold a diverse lineup, starting with Prestige, which highlights the simple elegance of plain Danish pastry. Other standards include Kyoto Tricolor—an eye-catching blend of Gion Tsujiri matcha, tart strawberry, and plain dough—and the rich, rounded sweetness of Maple Caramel. Beyond confectionery-leaning varieties like Gion Tsujiri Matcha Bean Paste, which twists adzuki paste and candied sweet beans through green tea dough, and the cream-cheese-infused Doji Fromage, there are savory possibilities such as Cheese & Bacon, suited to a glass of wine or dinner. Half-and-half loaves like Chocolat Blanc & Maple Caramel and seasonal limited editions add to the pleasure of choosing what to take home.
Aside from full-sized single loaves, the shop stocks individually wrapped sliced portions under the Partager line and bite-sized Marble Crunch, making it easy to assemble casual gifts or quick snacks. While the boxed loaves can be sliced and eaten as-is to appreciate their moist, tender texture, a brief run through a toaster oven crisps the flaky exterior and warms the interior, reviving the fragrant aroma of a fresh bake.
Free dedicated parking is available on-site, offering a convenient stop for motorists traveling near the Kyoto Minami Interchange or picking up regional souvenirs. Payment options are broad, accepting major credit cards alongside digital wallets like PayPay and d-barai, as well as transit IC cards.
